GPD Aggressive Driving Project (NB)
Explanation
The Gainesville Police Department has been contacted by the State of Florida Department of Transportation and asked to participate in an Aggressive Driving Project for the remainder of June and the months of July and August 2010. The purpose of the program will be to implement enforcement campaigns targeting speed and aggressive driving infractions. GPD will utilize existing resources to conduct high-visibility, zero-tolerance enforcement operations at locations identified as having a high frequency of traffic crashes and/or fatalities. This project will begin on June 21, 2010.
Fiscal Note
This grant will provide $25,000 of funding for overtime details for the purpose of targeting speed and aggressive driving infractions. No match is required.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager to apply for the GPD Aggressive Driving Project and authorize the City Manager to execute the grant application, grant award, and any other necessary documents, pending review by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
