Explanation

The Public Works Department Operations Division purchases approximately 2000 cubic yards of redi-mix concrete for use in the routine maintenance of City streets and drainage facilities.  Redi-mix concrete is also used in capital projects and in repairs to City facilities as necessitated by utility installations.

The Purchasing Division solicited bids from 340 vendors.  Florida Rock Industries was the only vendor that responded with a bid.  Their bid was within expectations and acceptable.

Fiscal Note

All purchases will be charged to the appropriate operating budget or capital improvement account.

Recommendation

The City Commission:  1) award the contract to Florida Rock Industries; and 2) authorize the City Manager or designee to execute the contract with Florida Rock Industries.
