A Resolution Supporting the Recreation Referendum of Alachua County (B)

Explanation

The City of Gainesville participated with Alachua County and the other municipalities in the County as a member of the Recreation Coordinating Committee (RCC) .  The RCC recommended that Alachua County propose to the voters a seven year half-cent sales tax to fund needed recreation projects.  Alachua County has requested each municipality to adopt a resolution supporting the recreation referendum. 

Fiscal Note

The City's share of the recreation half-cent sales tax is estimated to be $47,000,000 over seven years, plus a portion of the Operation and Maintenance Trust Fund.

Recommendation

The City Commission approve the resolution.
