An ordinance amending Appendix A, Section UTILITIES (4) Sewerage, by increasing wastewater base rates and adjusting wastewater connection charges; providing for a repealing clause; providing for a severability clause; and, providing an effective date in accordance with the schedule provided herein.

explanation
The City Commission at its meeting of July 24, 2003, authorized the City Attorney's Office to draft an ordinance amending wastewater base rates and adjusting wastewater connection charges. In the Proposed Budget for the Combined Utilities System, the General Manager made a recommendation to increase wastewater base rates 2.25% and increase wastewater connection charges. The change in connection charges varies by meter size with an overall increase in wastewater connection charge revenue of 9.4%. Both changes will be effective October 1, 2003. Even with these changes, GRU's monthy rates and connection charges remain among the lowest in the state.
