Federal LECFTF Funding for a GIS Conversion Project (NB)
Explanation
The requested funding is needed to pay for services and software for a Geographic Information System (GIS) implementation and conversion project which will expand the Gainesville Police Department's current use of GIS into three additional major areas: Calls for Service; Uniform Crime Reporting and Records Management; and which will provide enhanced integration with the existing GIS Spatial Crime Analysis (SCAS) Crime Mapping application via needed programming modifications to prepare for anticipated necessary upgrades. The project also will include deploying the system over GPD's Intranet and to the public via GPD's Web page on the Internet.
Fiscal Note
Funds for this expenditure are available in the Federal Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund account and is allowable per Federal 21 U.S.C. ยง 881, found in the U.S. Department of Justice's "A Guide to Equitable Sharing of Federally Forfeited Property for State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies". The balance in the account is $197,717.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the appropriation of an amount not to exceed $65,000 from the Federal Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund for the GIS Conversion Project
