ELECTION DISTRICTS AMENDMENT (B)

An ordinance of the City of Gainesville, Florida, Chapter 9, Elections; amending Section 9-1.1(a) of the Code of Ordinances changing the numbers of the election precincts that comprise the election districts of the City; providing directions to the codifier; providing a severability clause; providing a repealing clause; and providing an immediate effective date.

explanation
Certain properties were annexed to the City of Gainesville as of September 1, 2002 as a result of the annexation referendum held on February 26, 2002. As a result, the Supervisor of Elections proposed changes to the Alachua County voting precincts to include those areas within the current election districts for the upcoming City elections. Those changes were approved by the Board of County Commissioners. The following amendments reflect these changes.
1. Adding precinct 59 to District No. 1;
2. Adding part of precinct 21, adding precincts 55, 57 and 58 to District No. 2;
3. Adding precincts 44, 54, 61 and 64 to District No. 3.
4. Part of precinct 21 shall be removed from District 3.
