Purchase of Police Gym Flooring and Cardiovascular Equipment (NB)
Explanation
The flooring in the police gym is not withstanding the increased activity since some new equipment was purchased. With the increased demand by employees to maintain peak physical performance, the carpet is wearing out and has become a hazard. In an effort to encourage employees to maintain good health and cardiovascular condition, which is important in the performance of a police officers' job duties, these purchases are being requested to help them attain and maintain this fitness. Total cost for the gym flooring and additional equipment is $48,177.96. Bid documents are available at the Gainesville Police Department.
Fiscal Note
Funds for this expenditure are available in the Federal Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund and is allowable per Federal 21 U.S.C.ยง 881, found in the U.S. Department of Justice "A Guide to Equitable Sharing of Federally Forfeited Property for State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies." The balance in the account is $2,461,701.18. Balance is adjusted to account for pending item.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the appropriation and expenditure of an amount not to exceed $48,177.96 from the Federal Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund to Exercise Systems, Inc., Gotha, Florida.
