Title State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund (LECFTF) Funding for Joint Aviation Unit Explanation On July 8,1996, the City Commission approved the Inter-Agency Agreement for a Joint Aviation Unit between the Alachua County Sheriff's Office and the City of Gainesville's Police Department. The agreement allows for each agency to share the costs of the aviation hangar currently occupied at the Gainesville Regional Airport. Among the renovations to the facility was the installation of an office and related costs. The Alachua County Sheriff's Office handled the renovation and installation of the new office at a cost of $22,333.46. The City's share of the renovation project totals $11,166.73. The remainder of the requested appropriation ($22,000) is to fund operating costs for the remainder of FY 99. The Public Safety Committee, on April 22, 1999, approved forwarding this item to the full Commission for their consideration. Fiscal Note Funds for this expenditure are available in the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund, as allowed under Florida Statutes Sec. 932.7055(4)(a). The balance of the State LECFTF is $36,068. Recommendation The City Commission consider the appropriation of $33,166.73 from the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund for the operation of the Joint Aviation Unit, and authorize the issuance of a purchase order for $11,166.73 payable to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office for the installation and renovation of the Joint Aviation Unit office.
