Explanation

On January 10, 2000, the City Commission approved the expenditure of $15,000 for the purchase of new equipment to better utilize the Government Access Channel (Cox Channel 12). The estimated cost of the required audio video equipment is approximately $30,000.  The Alachua County Commission has agreed to contribute half of this expense since the County will also be utilizing the character generation facilities.

Fiscal Note

The City share of $15,000 has already been appropriated from the Commission contingency.

Recommendation

The City Commission authorize the City Manager to sign the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Gainesville and Alachua County for Government Access Television Channel Character Generation and Signal Switching upon the approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality.
