Explanation
Invitations to bid were sent by Utilities Purchasing to six prospective bidders, with all six companies responding. The bid was evaluated based on evaluation criteria set forth in the bid documents. A bid tabulation is attached for your reference.
This aerial device will be mounted on a new 2002, GMC Classic Sierra, 3500 HD truck, which is replacing U-598. U-598 is a 1986 model GMC 3500 with an Altec 1986 aerial device, which has required numerous repairs to the hydraulic system amounting to $11,000 during the last year. The new aerial lift unit will be used by substation crews for repair and maintenance of power apparatus, as well as, by the apparatus personnel for repair and maintenance of regulators.
Recommendations
The City Commission approve the issuance of a purchase order to Altec Industries, Inc. for the purchase of one (1) aerial lift unit in the amount not to exceed $30,269.
Fiscal Note
Funding for this purchase has been included in the FY02 Utility General Plant Budget Fund for the Substation/Relay Division.
