The City Commission adopt the proposed ordinance.

explanation

The City Commission at its meeting on August 20, 2009, approved the City Attorney's recommendation that authorized the City Attorney to prepare and the Clerk of the Commission to advertise the ordinance. The RTS Citizens Advisory Board endorses this ordinance.

This proposed ordinance would prohibit smoking at the Rosa Parks RTS Downtown Station, except in the permitted smoking area, as designated by the City Manager. If the City Manager designates a permitted smoking area, signs shall be posted stating as such and delineating the boundaries of the area. The ordinance provides a $75 civil citation for violators.
