Interlocal Agreement with Alachua County for New Programs (B)
Explanation
An Interlocal Agreement for the Destination Enhancement Funding Program was approved at the October 22, 2001 City Commission meeting, and was amended on November 13, 2001. That document itemizes a distribution formula to five funded categories: 1) Cultural Affairs Administration; 2) Professional Arts Producing Institutions; 3) Community Arts Agencies; 4) Ecoheritage Tourism Council; and 5) Cultural Affairs New Programs. The New Programs component will serve to fund the development and promotion of activities that will increase tourist-related activities in Alachua County
Monies from the County for New Programs in FY 2002 was designated by the County to be used for the promotion of "A T. rex Named 'Sue'."
For subsequent years of the Agreement, FY 2003 - 2006, the City will seek cooperative ventures for the development of new programs.
Fiscal Note
The City will receive a variable sum annually from the County for the implementation of New Programs, an estimated $15,000 in FY 2002, per the Destination Enhancement Formula.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) approve the Interlocal Agreement with Alachua County for New Programs; and 2) authorize the City Manager or his designee to execute the amended agreement and any related documents for this funding program.
