Title
Park Pavilions (NB)
Explanation
On January 10, 2000, the City Commission allocated $7,500 from City Commission contingency funds for the construction of park pavilions. This was a joint project between the City and the University of Florida, Department of Architecture. The students designed and constructed two pavilions at the Ironwood Golf Course. At that time, the City Commission agreed to continue this park pavilion project at site-specific locations on a yearly basis. Project updates are to be reviewed by the Recreation and Cultural Affairs Committee before recommendations are submitted to the City Commission for approval.
At the April 24, 2001 Recreation and Cultural Affairs Committee meeting, an update was provided by Professor Nancy Clark and Richard Pohlman from the University of Florida Department of Architecture. Professor Clark briefed the committee on the status of the two pavilions that have been completed at Ironwood and proposed two new locations along the Depot Avenue Bike Trail for the pavilions to be constructed by the next class of students.
