John R. Kelly Generating Station-CC1 Foundation and Site Work (B)
Explanation
As part of the combined cycle installation at the John R. Kelly Generating Station the foundations and site work must be completed. Invitations to bid were sent to seven contractors for this type of work. Three bids were received on February 16, 2000. A tabulation of the bids received is attached for your information.
Staff and Burns and McDonnell engineers have completed an evaluation of the bids and have determined the bid submitted by Watkins Engineers and Constructors to be the lowest evaluated cost. Staff recommends the Commission approve the execution of a contract with Watkins Engineers and Constructors in an amount not to exceed $1,638,872.00. This not to exceed amount contains a $200,000 contingency for potential design changes.
Recommendations
The City Commission authorize the General Manager or his designee to execute a contract for the foundations and site work to Watkins Engineers and Constructors and approve the issuance of a purchase order in an amount not to exceed $1,638,872.00.

Funds for this project are included in the FY 99/00 Energy Supply budget.
