GTEC Agreement with Santa Fe College

Strategic Initiative 4.4 Formalize relationships to build key partnership opportunities with UF and SFC

Explanation
The Gainesville Technology Enterprise Center (GTEC) opened in the spring of 2001, to grow local technology-based companies and create high-wage jobs.  The 30,000 square foot facility, maintained by the CRA, provides resident companies with office or laboratory space, shared meeting space and equipment, technical assistance and access to networking opportunities.  GTEC is an integral part of Gainesville's economic development efforts.

The City is currently negotiating the terms of a long-term management agreement with Santa Fe College to provide incubator programming and entrepreneurship training at GTEC. Santa Fe College is requesting that in the event there is a shortfall reaching the budget during the first several years that the City shares in any loss.  They also requested that the start date of the agreement be July 1, 2013 to coincide with the start of Santa Fe's fiscal calendar.
