Title
Gainesville's Historic Railroad Depot Consultants (B)
Explanation
A Request for a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for hiring an architect/engineering consultant to design the renovation/restoration of Gainesville's Historic Railroad Depot was advertised from January 2, 2002 until January 31, 2002. Nine firms/individuals attended the pre-proposal meeting on January 22, 2002. The City received two highly qualified proposals from Florida firms, submitted by Hanbury, Evans, Newill, Vlattas, Valladarez & Company, and Bergmann Associates. The selection committee reviewed the written presentations and participated in the oral presentations that took place on March 4 and 7. A final selection of the Bergmann Associates firm is recommended.
Fiscal Note
Funding is a combination of a Special Category Grant of $226,490.00, a City of Gainesville match of $270,993.00 and TEA-21 Enhancement funds of $750,000.00 from the Florida Department of Transportation.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) hear a presentation and approve the ranking of the two firms; and 2)authorize the City Manager to negotiate and sign a contract with the top ranked firm and if not successful, to negotiate and sign a contract with the second ranked firm.
