Purchase Order for Parking Lot Resurfacing (B)
Explanation
The parking lot and adjacent roads surrounding the Deerhaven Generating Station Process Plant are heavily used traffic areas for vehicles transporting materials and equipment to and from the Process Plant and outlying areas. These roads also provide access to the the brine salt unloading station. The areas to be resurfaced have not been resurfaced since its original construction in 1980 and no longer has sufficent surface to be adequately repaired.
The Contractor will saw-cut and remove asphalt from specific areas to prevent water from flowing into the building. The parking lot and adjacent roads will be resurfaced with asphalt.
Four contractors capable of performing the resurfacing work inspected the site. Andrews Paving provided the lowest quotation and is being recommended for award of this project. A tabulation of the quotes received is attached for your reference.
Recommendations
The City Commission approve the issuance of a purchase order to Andrews Paving, Inc. for resurfacing the parking lot and roads adjacent to the Process Plant at the Deerhaven Generating Station in the amount of $26,840.
Fiscal Note
Funds for this expense are included in the FY2002 Utilities capital budget.
