An ordinance amending the City of Gainesville 2000-2010 Comprehensive Plan, Future Land Use Map; by changing the land use category of certain property annexed into the City from the Alachua County land use categories of "HIGH, High Density Residential" and "LOW, Low Density Residential" to the City of Gainesville land use category of "Residential Low-Density (up to 12 units per acre)"; located in the vicinity of 3600 Southwest 14th Place; providing a severability clause; providing a repealing clause; and providing an effective date.

STAFF REPORT
The subject property is 8.7 acres, is vacant and was annexed into the city in 2004. This property must be brought into conformance with the City's Comprehensive Plan. This requires amending the City's Future Land Use map to include this property. This petition would amend the City's Future Land Use map.
The property currently has a split county land use designation of High-Density Residential (14-24 du/ac) and Low-Density Residential (1-4 du/ac).
Education (ED) land use owned by the University of Florida is east and south of the property. Vacant property is adjacent to the west and north with Alachua County Low-Density Residential (1-4 du/ac).
Because the character of nearby properties is compatible and because the property borders the University of Florida campus, this property is most suitably given a Residential Low land use designation.
The Plan Board heard the petition and recommended approval.
