Explanation

A number of City employees wear uniforms in the performance of their jobs.  A Request For Proposal (RFP) was prepared utilizing garments with the new City color schemes of khaki and navy blue. 71 prospective vendors received the bid notice and 34 requested the bid package. Proposals were received from three companies with one package returned because it was received a day late.  The RFP provided for an initial contract which will expire September 30, 2002 with the option of up to four one year extensions provided that the service is satisfactory.  After reviewing services offered, quality of the uniforms, prices of the garments, and references, the evaluation team is recommending award to Lake's Uniforms.

Fiscal Note

Funds for uniforms are in each departmental budget.

Recommendation

The City Commission: 1) approve the selection of Lake's Uniforms; and 2) authorize the City Manager or designee to execute the contract subject to the approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality.
