Title
Pedestrian Lighting on Northeast 3rd Street, Northeast 2nd Avenue and Northeast 4th Street (NB)
Explanation
In September 2001 the City Commission approved a recommendation from the CRA that $50,589 from Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG) loan repayment funds be used to fund lighting along Northeast 3rd Street and Northeast 2nd Avenue as part of the streetscaping project around City Hall and the Regents Park project. Most of the lighting funded in September 2001 has been installed, along northern 2nd Avenue north of City Hall and along Northeast 3rd Street between City Hall and the new Commerce Center and row houses. GRU will be billing the City in the amount of $50,280 to be paid from the UDAG funds once the work is complete.
GRU has provided an estimate of $36,508 for the additional lighting in order to light the perimeter of Phase One of Regents Park with Lumec Washington Globe fixtures to match the recent adjacent streetscape, which also assists the developer because it satisfies the code requirement of lighting the front entrance stairways to the row houses.
Fiscal Note
The City currently has $274,720 available in UDAG funds for this project.
Recommendation
City Manager to the City Commission: Request the City fund $36,508 for additional pedestrian lighting along Northeast 3rd Street, Northeast 2nd Avenue and Northeast 4th Street.
