Actuarial Services for the Disability Pension Plan (B)

This item involves the Actuarial Services contract for the Disability Pension Plan.  

Explanation

On July 2, 2009, the City's Purchasing Division solicited request for proposals for Actuarial Services for the Disability Pension Plan.  Eight (8) firms submitted responses on July 27, 2009. Staff reviewed and scored the proposals on August 14, 2009.  The final rankings of the firms are as follows:

1^st - Actuarial Concepts

2^nd - Buck Consultants

3^rd - Gabriel Roeder Smith & Co

Fiscal Note

Actuarial Services fees of $10,500 for the Disability Pension Plan are included in the Fiscal Year 2010 budget.

Recommendation

Recommended Motion:  The City Commission:  1) accept the selection in order of ranking; 2) authorize the City Staff to initiate contract negotiations with Actuarial Concepts, as the Actuarial Services provider for the Disability Pension Plan; and 3) authorize the City Manager as Trust Administrator to execute all related documents, including contract amendments and extensions.
