Explanation
The City Commission referred the issue of staffing and overtime for RTS Driver-Operators to the Audit, Finance and Legislative Committee during the City Commission meeting on March 1, 2012.
On April 4, 2012, the Audit, Finance and Legislative Committee heard a presentation from RTS staff regarding this issue. Discussion centered upon RTS and Finance Department management working together to reduce overtime expenses through the addition of more budgeted driver-operator positions.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager to propose additional RTS Driver-Operator positions in the Fiscal Year 2012 operating budget with no overall increase in the RTS budget. Details on the implementation of this plan will be provided by the City Manager to the City Commission at a later date for formal approval.
