Award of Bid - Waldo Road/NW 39th Avenue Landscape Contract (B)

 

Explanation

The Purchasing Division solicited Requests for Proposals (RFP's) from 438 vendors for Phase II of the Waldo Road Beautification Project.  Phase II will complete landscaping the medians along Waldo Road and along 39th Avenue to the Airport.   Three bids were received and opened on October 17, 2001.  Staff reviewed the proposals the week of October 29, 2001.  Florida Green Keepers, Inc., submitted the lowest responsive bid in the amount of $212,750.  Since the amount of funds available for the project is $191,000, staff is requesting permission to negotiate a contract with Florida Green Keepers, Inc. for this project.  Should efforts to negotiate a contract with Florida Green Keepers, Inc. not be successful, staff will rebid the project.

 

Fiscal Note

$191,000 ($60,000 City and $131,000 FDOT Grant Match) is available in the Waldo Road Beautification Grant Part II project account.

 

Recommendation

The City Commission: 1) approve the ranking of the firms as presented; 2) authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to negotiate a contract for Landscaping at Waldo Road/NW 39th Avenue; and 3) authorize the City Manager, or his designee, upon successful negotiation, to execute the contract.
