This item is a request for approval of a First Extension to the Annual Contract for Trash Pick Up and Disposal from City of Gainesville Regional Transit System Bus Stops.
Explanation
On August 13, 2008, the City of Gainesville entered into a contract with Waste Management, Inc. of Florida to furnish the labor, materials, and equipment to collect and dispose of trash from all City of Gainesville Regional Transit System bus stops. On December 23, 2008, the City of Gainesville accepted assignment of the contract to EWS Central Florida Hauling LLC. EWS Central Florida Hauling, LLC. has provided consistently good service and responded promptly when notified of any collection problems or special pickups. This contract expires on September 30, 2009, with the option to extend the term for a 12-month period with a maximum of three such extensions as described in Section 4 of the contract.
Fiscal Note
Funding in the amount of $53,234.64 is available in the RTS FY2010 budget for the contract for trash pick-up and disposal from RTS bus stops.
Recommendation
Recommended Motion: The City Commission 1) approve the First Extension to the Annual Contract for Trash Pick Up and Disposal from City of Gainesville Regional Transit System Bus Stops; and 2) authorize the City Manager to execute any necessary documents to extend the annual contract with EWS Central Florida Hauling, LLC., subject to approval by the City Attorney's office as to form and legality.
