Explanation
On May 17, 2000, the Gainesville Police Department received a court-approved settlement forfeiting a 1995 Chevrolet Caprice to the Gainesville Police Department. Under state law, upon receipt of the settlement, the Gainesville Police Department became responsible for the satisfaction of all outstanding liens. The vehicle in question has an outstanding lien payable to SunTrust Bank, Central FL N.A. Through July 5, 2000, the payoff amount is $12,001.28, with a per diem of $3.07613 for each subsequent day.
Fiscal Note
Funds for this expenditure are available in the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund, as allowed under FSS 932.7055 (4)(a). The available balance in the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund is $23,025.00.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the appropriation and expenditure of an amount not to exceed $12,100.00 from the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund for the satisfaction of a vehicle lien payable to SunTrust Bank, Central FL N.A.
