On September 12, 2011, the City was served with a Summons and Complaint filed by Ezra Strickland in the Circuit Court. Mr. Strickland was shot by a Gainesville Police Officer when he physically resisted being taken into custody. The Plaintiff alleges negligence in the operation, management, and oversight of the Combined Communications Center. The Plaintiff claims to have suffered bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, mental anguish, disability and a loss of the capacity for the enjoyment of life. Plaintiff is seeking compensatory damages and costs.
