Special Needs Housing Agreement With St. Francis House, Inc. (NB)
Explanation
This agreement provides for a maximum of $60,000 of State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program funds to be used by the St. Francis House during the period July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2001. These funds will be used to finance 50% of the renovation expenses incurred to convert the 32 units located at 2105 and 2120 Southwest 14th Street to a single room occupancy complex. The units will be leased to single adult homeless persons that want to achieve self-sufficiency.
Fiscal Note
SHIP funding for this program was approved by the City Commission as a part of the Local Housing Assistance Plan. Housing Division Program funds are budgeted and will be transferred to Alachua County per an inter-local agreement.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) approve the grant award of $60,000 to St. Francis House, Inc. to finance a portion of the renovation cost required to convert the existing multi-family structures located at 2105 and 2120 Southwest 14th Street to a single room occupancy complex; 2) authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute the agreement between the City, Alachua County and St. Francis House, Inc., subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality; and 3) authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to transfer $30,000 of the grant award into the Special Needs Housing Trust Fund. (Prior to July 24, 2000 a copy of the Agreement will be on file in the Clerk of the Commission's office. After July 24, 2000, a copy of the Agreement will be on file in the Community Development Department.)
