State Emergency Medical Services Matching Grant (B)
Explanation
Staff recommends submitting an application to the State of Florida for a State Emergency Medical Services Matching Grant by November 26, 2001. If awarded, this grant will fund the replacement of Gainesville Fire Rescue's current three lead EKG monitor/defibrillators with 12-lead EKG monitor/defibrillators. The current EKG monitor/defibrillators are 12 years old. Scheduled replacement of these monitors has been on the Capital Improvement Plan for ten years and has not been funded.
Fiscal Note
The total amount of the grant will be $176,950.00. This grant requires a 25% match by the City of Gainesville. The amount of the match required from the City will be $44,237.50 if awarded.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager to: 1) apply to the State of Florida under the State Emergency Medical Services Matching Grant for purchase of replacement EKG monitor/defibrillators; and if awarded, 2) bring back to the Commission a financial plan for identifying the matching funds requirement prior to executing the grant award contract.
