Duck Pond Restoration Project Purchase Order
Explanation
The University of Florida - Center for Wetlands delivered their final report on the plans and plantings for the Duck Pond Restoration Project on July 6, 1999. Additional design services are needed to achieve historic compatibility with the neighborhood and install new walls. In November 1998 the City Commission directed that a landscape architect be retained to develop the historic compatibility element of the design. The City currently has a contract with The Rickman Partnership, Inc. for architectural services. Buffington Associates, Inc. (BAI), one of the firms recommended by the Duck Pond neighborhood committee, is a subcontractor for The Rickman Partnership, Inc. for landscape architecture services. BAI will develop the historic aspects of the project, make presentations to the neighborhood and move it through the 'Appropriateness of Design Review' for both local and state historic review agencies. Bodo and Associates, Inc., also a subcontractor of The Rickman Partnership, Inc., will develop the necessary structural design for the wall surrounding the pond and the walls around the two deep water areas within the pond.
Fiscal Note
Funding for this work is allocated in the FY 1999-2003 Capital Improvement Plan in the amount of $350,000.00 for FY 98-99.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager, or designee, to issue a purchase order to The Rickman Partnership, Inc. in the amount of $32,000.00 for services and reimbursable expenses as estimated on the proposal of July 12,1999 for the Duck Pond Restoration Project.
