Award of Bid - Northwest 10th Avenue and Northwest 18th Terrace Traffic Calming (B)
Explanation
This project is for the installation of traffic calming devices (traffic chokers and speed tables) on Northwest 10th Avenue between Northwest 6th Street and Northwest 18th Terrace and on Northwest 18th Terrace between Northwest 8th and Northwest 16th Avenues.
This project was the result of input received during neighborhood meetings and was reviewed and approved by the City Commission on September 11, 2000. The project has been coordinated with Gainesville Fire Rescue Department with respect to the type of traffic calming devices utilized. The project includes speed tables, not speed humps, which are easier for large vehicles to negotiate but still effective at reducing speeds.
The Purchasing Division solicited bids with three firms responding with bids. Anglin Cavallino, of Gainesville, Florida submitted the low responsive bid of $53,500.00.
Fiscal Note
Funds are available in the Roadway Resurfacing capital account.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) award the contract for the construction of the Northwest 10th Avenue and 18th Terrace Traffic Calming project to Anglin Cavallino; 2) authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute the contract; and 3) authorize the issuance of a purchase order to Anglin Cavallino, in the amount of $53,500.00.
