Explanation

Nationally, women make up approximately 8% of career firefighters in the United States, and roughly 13% of police officers. The aim of this research is to explore recruiting initiatives that the Gainesville Police Department and the Gainesville Fire Department have in place for women. This research also explores programs and policies across the United States which can increase the recruitment of women in fire and police departments.
