Explanation
While employed by GRU, Mr. Williams received injuries to his right ankle, foot and back. This led to ongoing medical treatment. As a result of his injuries, the present potential exposure to the City in future medical treatment and the potential for back surgery is significant given his 22 year life expectancy.
The City Attorney's Office, the Risk Management Department, GRU, Special Counsel and our Worker's Compensation servicing agent all concur as to the full and final settlement of this claim. The total amount $58,300, includes future medical costs.
Fiscal Note
The settlement of this case in the amount of $58,300 will be paid out of the General Insurance Fund.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize Special Counsel to prepare and execute the appropriate documents for a lump-sum settlement of the Worker's Compensation claim of Bruce Williams, in the amount of $58,300.
