Reclassification of Staff Assistant, Senior in GRU to an Executive Assistant, Senior (B)
Explanation
Information was collected in a Job Audit Questionnaire and in a job audit interview conducted March 9, 2005 for the Staff Assistant, Sr. position in the Budget, Finance, and Accounting Division of GRU. Since the 2003 audit of the staff assistant series, there have been changes in the reporting relationship of the supervisor, which impact the classification grade level of this position. There is a new Chief Financial Officer and this position now reports directly to the General Manager for Utilities. In addition, the duties for the incumbent Staff Assistant, Sr. have changed and include job functions related to assisting the Chief Financial Officer with the GRU budgeting process. Specific duties include development, preparation and processing of complex budget related programs. These responsibilities differ in nature and level of difficulty from those described in the current job description and is more consistent with the Executive, Sr. position.
The Personnel & Organizational Structure Committee discussed the reclassification at its June 7, 2005 meeting, and recommends that the City Commission approve the reclassification of the Staff Assistant, Sr. position in the Budget Finance, and Accounting Division of GRU (CWA Pay Grade FF - $28,810 - $35,616) to be upgraded to MAP Pay Plan Executive Assistant, Sr. (Pay Grade EXC $32,733 - $45,008.)
Fiscal Note
The reclassification will be an upgrade from CWA Grade FF - $28,810 - $35,616 to MAP Pay Plan Executive Assistant, Sr. Grade EXC $32,733 - $45,008. Funds are available in the GRU budget.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the reclassification of a Staff Assistant, Senior in GRU Finance and Accounting Division of GRU to an Executive Assistant, Senior.
