Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting and Additional Award Announcements (NB)
The City was awarded Government Finance Officers Association of the United Sates and Canada (GFOA) Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for its 2006 Citizen's Report. The 2007 Citizen's Report is hereby presented to the Commission and will also be submitted to GFOA for the award. In addition, the Communications and Marketing Office will be sharing information on recent awards the Office has received from the Florida Government Communicators Association.
Explanation
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has granted an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting to the City of Gainesville for its Citizen's Report for the year ended September 30, 2006. The Award for Outstanding Achievement is a prestigious national award-recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports. In order to earn an Award for Outstanding Achievement, a governmental unit must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized popular report.
An Award for Outstanding Achievement is valid for a period of one year only. The City of Gainesville has received the Award for Outstanding Achievement each year it has been eligible since the inception of the program in 1992. The City believes its current report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2007 continues to comply with the program requirements, and therefore is submitting it to the GFOA for review and consideration.
The Communications and Marketing Office was also the recent recipient of three Crystal Awards from the Florida Government Communicators Association.
