Explanation
In December, the Recreation and Parks Department received notice of funding availability through the Women's Sports Foundation for the support of girl's sports programming efforts through organizations, agencies and schools that agree to participate in the GoGirlGo Project educational curriculum. Individual grant awards of up to $25,000 will be given to selected organizations.
The City of Gainesville, Recreation and Parks Department, is requesting $25,000 to establish a developmental volleyball league for girls ten to fourteen years of age. The Department has obtained letters of support for the program from the University of Florida's Volleyball Coach, Mary Wise, who has agreed to offer free clinics as part of the program.

No in kind match is required for this grant.
Recommendations
The City Commission: 1) approve the grant application to the GoGirlGo Project; and 2) authorize the City Manager to execute the grant agreement and other grant-related documents, if awarded.
