Tree Mitigation and Replanting at the Woodlands (B)

Explanation

Vegetation Management inadvertently removed trees that comprised a significant portion of the required natural barrier between the Woodlands development on SW 75th Street and 8th Avenue. Vegetation Management has agreed to provide mitigation and replanting of the barrier. This includes additional trees previously removed as a part of GRU Trade-A-Tree negotiations with the Woodlands' owner.

Utilities Purchasing identified five suppliers capable of providing the materials and services.  The five suppliers were sent an Invitation to Bid.  One supplier no bid, one did not respond and three provided bids. A tabulation of the bids is attached for your reference.

Recommendations

The City Commission approve the issuance of a purchase order to Ragin Lawn Service in an amount not to exceed $30,500, to provide and install the trees, shrubs and irrigation system for the Woodlands' mitigation and replanting project, subject to the approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality.

Fiscal Note

Funds for this project are in the FY 2001 O & M budget for Vegetation Management.
