Title
Public Art Master Plan (B)
Explanation
On October 9, 2000, the City Commission adopted revisions to the Art in Public Places Trust (APPT) Ordinance, Chapter 5.5 of the City Code of Ordinances. Changes to the Ordinance included the implementation of a Public Art Master Plan.
A committee, comprised of City staff and members of the APPT, was formed to define the elements and scope of the Plan.
In January of 2002, the City Commission approved the amendment of the APPT Coordinator's contract to include responsibility for the development of a Public Art Master Plan.
The Public Art Master Plan has been drafted to establish an overall focus for City Public Art programs, including locations and evaluation policies for donated or acquired artwork placed on City property. The Plan encompasses fine art, temporary works, monuments and memorials, murals, and embellishments to infrastructure, such as sidewalks, medians, and roads.
The content and spirit of this document were framed through cooperation between the Departments of Cultural Affairs and Planning, with the assistance of members of the APPT, Facilities Management, Public Works, and GRU Energy Delivery.
Fiscal Note
