Resolution for a Local Agency Program Project Agreement (LAPPA) for Construction of a Stimulus Funding Project (B)

This item is a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a LAPPA between the City of Gainesville and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the construction of a Stimulus Funding Project, NW 34^th Street Sidewalk.

Explanation

The City of Gainesville is a FDOT certified local agency. This allows the City to enter into agreements with FDOT for the City to use transportation funding from the Federal Government.  The City is requesting to enter into a Local Agency Program project agreement with FDOT for the construction of the City of Gainesville's NW 34^th Street Sidewalk project.  This project is prioritized by the MTPO for Federal stimulus funding.

While an executed LAPPA exists for this project between the City and FDOT, a replacement LAPPA is necessary as the project description has changed.  The terminus of the project needs to change from US 441 to NW 55^th Boulevard as sidewalk construction between NW 55^th Boulevard and US 441 is cost prohibitive.

Fiscal Note

The LAP Project Agreement provides the City with funding in the amount of $432,000.00 for the construction cost of NW 34th Street Sidewalk project.

Recommendation

Recommended Motion:  The City Commission:  1) adopt the Resolution; and 2) authorize the City Manager to execute the LAP Project Agreement for construction of the NW 34th Street Sidewalk, including subsequent related documents.
