Bid Award - Contract for Pick-up and Disposal of Trash from RTS Bus Stops (B)
Explanation
On July 30, 2004, the Purchasing Division solicited bid proposals from one hundred seventy nine (179) potential bidders for pick-up and disposal of trash from containers at Regional Transit System bus stops. Two (2) bids were received. After evaluation of the bids, staff recommends award of the contract to Waste Management, Inc. of Florida. The initial contract will be for the period October 1, 2004 to September 30, 2005, with an option of renewing the contract for two (2) additional one-year periods.
The first year cost of this contract is $35,976 for existing locations, plus a charge of $12.50 per month for each new trash can location.

Funds for this contract are available in the RTS FY2005 Budget.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) approve the award of the contract to Waste Management, Inc., of Florida; and 2) authorize the City Manager or his designee to execute a contract with Waste Management, Inc. in the amount of $35,976.
