Second Extension to the Contract to Provide Asphalt Materials and Services (B)
Explanation
On September 13, 1999, the City Commission awarded an annual contract to V. E. Whitehurst & Sons, Inc., to provide asphalt materials and services for use in construction projects and to provide for roadway and drainage facilities maintenance. On February 12, 2001, the City Commission approved the first extension to the contract. The first extension included language that amended the contract to allow the City and the Contractor to renegotiate and adjust the unit price for asphalt mix to reflect substantial changes in the cost of bituminous materials from the cost in effect at the date of execution of the contract.
The original contract with V. E. Whitehurst & Sons Inc. allowed for two one-year extensions. The Public Works Department is seeking approval of the contact for the second of the two extensions.
Fiscal Note
All purchases will be charged to the appropriate operating budget or capital improvement account.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager or designee to execute the second extension to the contract for FY 2002 to V. E. Whitehurst & Sons, Inc., as primary supplier for asphaltic concrete plant mix.
