Summer Food Program Bid Award (B)
Explanation
The Purchasing Division sent bids to 13 vendors for the FY 2001 Summer Nutrition Food Service Program. Bids were opened on May 14, 2001, and ARAMARK - University of Florida was the only responsive bidder. However, ARAMARK's bid price was too high and had to be rejected.
Purchasing has reissued the bid package with a modified menu and specifications that will hopefully produce a more favorable bid price. Bid opening will be May 29, 2001 at 9:00 AM.
Staff will present to the Commission the successful bidder at the May 29, 2001 meeting.
Fiscal Note
The USDA and the State of Florida will reimburse the food cost for this program to the City.
Recommendations
The City Commission authorize the City Manager or his designee to execute a contract with the successful bidder, for the Summer Food Service Program, subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
