Streetscape Agreement for Commerce Project (B)
Explanation
On March 19, 1999, the City of Gainesville, the Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency and the Gainesville Commerce Center Limited Partnership entered into a Development Agreement for the Commerce Project. As part of that agreement, the City agreed to construct streetscape improvements along Northeast 2nd Avenue between Northeast 1st Street and Northeast 3rd Streets, and Northeast 3rd Street between University Avenue and Northeast 2nd Avenue. The Public Works Department has determined that it would be in the best interest of the City and the project to contract with Gainesville Commerce Center Limited Partnership to include the construction of the streetscape in the contract for construction of the Commerce Building. This would insure that overlapping aspects of the project would be completed in the most cost effective and timely manner for both the City of Gainesville and Gainesville Commerce Center Limited Partnership.
The streetscape design has been approved by the Downtown Redevelopment Advisory Board and the Historic Preservation Board.
Fiscal Note
The CRA as part of the Commerce Project has approved $200,000 inclusive of design costs to construct the streetscape.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the Streetscape agreement with Gainesville Commerce Center Limited Partnership.
