Title
Award of Bid - Diesel Fuel For RTS (B)
Explanation
The City of Gainesville recently participated in a co-operative bid for fuel where several local entities pooled their requirements to get the best price possible. Approximately 4.7 million gallons of fuel was put out to bid by the following entities: Marion County Board of County Commissioners, City of Ocala, Citrus County, Marion County Sheriff, Marion County School Board, Alachua County School Board, Central Florida Community College, City of Belleview, and the City of Gainesville. Bids were received from five bidders. After review by representatives from all the agencies, the recommendation of award for transport loads of fuel was to Petroleum Traders Corporation. The pricing received will save RTS approximately 1.5 - 2.0 cents per gallon over the current pricing. It is anticipated RTS will use approximately 540,000 gallons annually. The initial contract will be for one year with four possible one-year extensions.
Fiscal Note
Funds for fuel have been budgeted in the annual RTS operating budget.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) approve the award to Petroleum Traders Corporation and 2) authorize the City Manager or his designee to execute a one-year contract with Petroleum Traders Corporation for the supply of diesel fuel.
