Title
Gainesville Enterprise Zone Development Agency (B)
Explanation
The GEZDA Board commissioned Dan Rudez, a University of Florida intern, to investigate all of the projects and identify all of the organizations that are providing services supporting East Gainesville's revitalization efforts. Additionally, Mr. Rudez coordinated the completion of "A Survey of Individuals Who Live and Work in East Gainesville" through the University of Florida's Survey Research Center. The results of this research and survey will help the GEZDA ascertain the perceptions of citizens and business owners about East Gainesville and will be used to develop strategies to facilitate the revitalization of East Gainesville. Peter Alcorn, GEZDA member, will introduce Mr. Rudez who will present the status of the East Gainesville Research Project, East Gainesville Survey and East Gainesville Map. Carol Villemaire, GEZDA Chairperson, will discuss the GEZDA's current budget status and request additional monies from the City Commission to fund the completion of the GEZDA projects.
Fiscal Note
Approximately 113 intern staff hours are estimated to complete these projects. Graduate interns are paid $10 per hour; therefore, it is estimated that the GEZDA will need $1,130 to fund the completion of the GEZDA projects. There are no funds in the GEZDA FY 02 budget to pay for an intern's salary.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) hear a presentation from the GEZDA members and Intern regarding the status of GEZDA Projects and 2) authorize the transfer of $1,130 from the City Commission Contingency to the GEZDA Budget to pay for the completion of the GEZDA Projects.
