Title
Potential Implications of Socially Conscious Investing (NB)
Explanation
At the April 24, 2000, Board of Trustees of the General Employees' Pension Plan (Board) meeting, the Board made the following referrals to the Pension Review Committee: 1) review the potential implications of socially conscious investing; 2) review other municipal government policies on these matters; 3) gather information with regard to overseas investments, specifically in South Africa and other African nations in general; and 4) return with recommendations to the Board of Trustees of the General Employees' Pension Plan.
Fiscal Note
The potential cost to the Plan of altering current investment strategies is not specifically quantifiable.
Recommendation
The Board of Trustees of the General Employees' Pension Plan hear a presentation from Jonathan Visscher, Chairman of the Pension Review Committee, as to what the potential implications of socially conscious investing would be to the General Employees' Pension Plan and take whatever action deemed appropriate.
