Title
Resolution to Designate a Portion of SE 2nd Street as "Louis Pennisi Street" (B)

Explanation
Mr. Louis Pennisi was born on January 14, 1897 in Italy and emigrated to America in 1913, entering America's war effort in World War I.  After serving faithfully in the U. S. Army, Mr. Pennisi moved to Gainesville, which was his home for 82 years.  In 1928, he opened "Louis Lunch," a hamburger establishment located in downtown Gainesville at 436 SE 2nd Street.  "Louis Lunch" remains in business today, much unchanged, and was operated by Mr. Pennisi until he turned 97 years old.  The City of Gainesville and the Community wish to honor the memory of Mr. Pennisi, who passed away on April 7, 2003, by dual-naming a portion of SE 2nd Street between SE 4th Avenue and Depot Avenue in the City of Gainesville, Florida, to "Louis Pennisi Street," so that his devotion to humanity and this Community will always be remembered.

Fiscal Note
The funds for producing the signs are available in the Public Works Department FY 03 operating budget.
