Purchase of a Small Backhoe Loader Tractor (B)
Explanation
The Water Distribution Department is replacing an existing trencher, which has reached the end of its useful life, with a small backhoe loader tractor. The equipment is required for utility excavation and construction which dictates that the tractor be an industrial unit.
Invitations to bid for furnishing a new small backhoe loader tractor were sent by Utilities Purchasing to six (6) prospective vendors, with one (1) vendor responding. A tabulation of the bids received is attached for your information.
Blakewood Equipment Inc.'s bid, is competitive with the market for this equipment; therefore, staff recommends that the backhoe loader tractor be purchased from the sole bidder.
Recommendations
The City Commission approve the issuance of a purchase order to Blakewood Equipment Sales, Inc. for one (1) Small Kubota Backhoe Loader Tractor in the amount of $31,983.00.
Fiscal Note
Funds for this purchase are available in the FY 2001 Water/Wastewater Systems budget.
