The City Commission at its meeting of June 28, 1999, authorized the City Attorney to draft and the Clerk of the Commission to advertise an ordinance allowing consumption and possession of alcoholic beverages at the Gainesville Community Plaza, and by commercial establishments on designated downtown streets when properly closed to traffic and utilized as part of the event area for a city-produced New Year's eve event.
