State LECFTF Funding for Alachua County School Board Drug-Free Calendar (B)
Explanation
For the second consecutive year, the Alachua County School Board is developing a Safe and Drug-Free Calendar to promote families' and parental involvement in their children to keep them safe and drug-free. The calendar will involve the participation of the Alachua County School Board, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, the Gainesville Police Department, and the Eighth Judicial Circuit State Attorney. Student artwork and essays will be featured in the calendar, which is to be distributed to all students (K-8) in Alachua County in August, 2001. Each of the involved agencies will assist in offsetting the cost of the development and printing of the calendar. This will be the second year that the Gainesville Police Department has participated in this endeavor.
Fiscal Note
Funds for this expenditure are available in the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund, as allowed under FSS 932.7055(4)(a). The balance in the account is $10,925.01.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the appropriation and expenditure of $5,000 from the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund to the School Board of Alachua County for the development and issuance of a Safe and Drug-Free Calendar.
