Title
Reauthorize the Historic Preservation/Building Code Subcommittee (see Legislative File # 951171)
Explanation
In June 1996, the City Commission authorized the formation of the Historic Preservation/Building Code Subcommittee to explore issues affecting the renovation of historic buildings (see Legislative File #951171). The Subcommittee has been meeting on a monthly basis since late June 1996 and is preparing a publication describing the building permit process, detailing historic preservation-related issues affecting the administration of the building code and suggesting areas where the Building Official can be flexible.
However, City Commission rules state that subcommittees unless reinstituted will sunset after six months. As such, the Historic Preservation/Building Code Subcommittee will sunset in December.
Fiscal Note
There is no anticipated fiscal impact on the City.
Recommendation
The City Commission reauthorize the Historic Preservation Board Subcommittee on the Building Code to continue work for another six months.
